Privacy Policy
Oil Fever is a board game. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The only thing it sends anywhere is what a multiplayer game needs to work, and that is deleted within days.
Playing alone
A solo game against the computer never leaves your device. Nothing about it is sent to us or to anyone else.
Playing with friends
When you open or join a room, the app uses Google Firebase to run the game:
- An anonymous player ID. Firebase gives your copy of the app a random ID so the game knows which seat is yours. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number or Apple ID, and you never sign in.
- The name you type (up to 16 characters). Only the people in your room see it. Use a nickname if you like; it does not have to be your real name.
- The game itself: the room code, the seats, whose turn it is, bids, leases, the moves everyone makes, and whether each player is connected.
Room data is deleted when the game ends or everyone leaves. A room that is simply abandoned is deleted automatically, normally within three days of its last move. The anonymous ID stays with Firebase so the app can recognise your seat if you reconnect; on its own it identifies no one.
Like any internet service, Google's servers see your device's IP address when the app connects, and keep short-lived technical logs to run and protect the service. We do not use those logs to identify you. Google's handling is described in the Firebase privacy information.
On your device
Your settings (sound, haptics, animation, board style and the name you last used), which tips you have already seen, and a note of the room you were last in are saved on your device so the app remembers them. Deleting the app removes them.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics SDKs.
- No tracking across other apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of data.
- No access to your contacts, photos, location, camera or microphone.
- No chat: players see each other's chosen names and moves, nothing else.
Children
Oil Fever does not ask for any personal information, and it is not designed to collect any from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has typed personal information as their player name, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can play solo without sending anything, choose any player name, and delete the app to remove everything stored on your device. To have the anonymous ID or any room data removed from our Firebase project sooner, email us with the room code and we will delete it.
Changes
If the app ever starts collecting something new, this page will say so before the update that does it, with a new effective date.
